Scenes From An Oakland Election Day
There was a low unusual mist as we set off on foot to our polling place yesterday- one street behind us.
There are some that believe the mists indicate the presence of the fey, or otherworldly creatures among us humans. Their presence was felt at our humble polling place- a local garage.
Some people chose to bring their closest advisors to the voting booth.
Later in the day, I saw many people outside the Miraculous Foundation, a local church. I asked the organizers if the people were waiting to vote. She politely didn't look at me too oddly as she answered, "No these people are waiting for food." Almost all mothers, children, and grandmothers or mothers to be. Asian, Latino, African American.
Let us not forget the underlying reasons driving all this highbrow "get out the vote" crap.
